Description

GTS Elettrotecnica single-phase column-type autotransformers offer an advanced, versatile, and cost-effective technical solution, particularly suitable for numerous industrial and civil applications involving frequent operating cycles. Their specific construction configuration ensures significant economic advantages compared to traditional transformers of the same power rating.

The term “column-type” identifies the special structure of the magnetic core, made with high-quality magnetic laminations arranged in two distinct elements: one U-shaped and the other I-shaped. The windings are distributed over the two separate columns of the U-shaped component, making it possible to use magnetic cores with a reduced cross-section, which ensures lower inrush currents and better heat dissipation. The magnetic circuit is then firmly closed by the I-shaped element, thus ensuring higher operating efficiency. Resin impregnation and its polymerization complete the production process.

t is important to emphasize that autotransformers do not provide galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits, making them unsuitable in the presence of particularly unbalanced loads. However, they are a highly economical solution, especially in applications where the difference between maximum voltage (Vmax) and minimum voltage (Vmin) is small. The effective core power is determined using the formula: Core power = ((Vmax – Vmin)/Vmax) × rated power (VA).È importante sottolineare che gli autotrasformatori non forniscono una separazione galvanica tra circuito primario e secondario, rendendoli inadatti in presenza di carichi particolarmente squilibrati.
