The unique “cladding” structure takes its name from the configuration of the magnetic core, composed of E- and I-shaped laminations. The concentric windings are arranged on the central column of the E-shaped core, while the side columns complete the magnetic circuit by enclosing the coil, ensuring optimal magnetic flux distribution and efficient heat management. The circuit is closed by an I-shaped element, consolidating the structural stability and performance of the device. Impregnation with resin and its polymerization complete the production process.

Compared to traditional transformers, autotransformers offer a significant economic advantage, particularly when the difference between maximum (Vmax) and minimum (Vmin) voltage is small. The core power is determined by the formula: Core power = ((Vmax – Vmin)/Vmax) × nominal power (VA), highlighting the efficiency and material savings when conditions of use allow.

It is essential to emphasize that autotransformers do not guarantee galvanic isolation between primary and secondary, making them unsuitable for applications with unbalanced loads or those requiring galvanic separation.
